The new ‘fire engine house’ was accommodated in the new William Blake Memorial Hall and the horse drawn fire engine continued to be housed there until 1951 when Somerset County Council decided it was surplus to requirements.

Pete Ashpool
- A book written by John Godfrey called Somerset Fire Brigade has a map of Somerset stations in 1948. Station A6 was Yatton so was its sub station. A1a Banwell, A3a Blagdon address Coombe Lodge, B1 Millborne Port address was Cross House, and C2a Nether Stowey. South Petherton NFS Station number was EX1 but records show closed in 1947 NFS List, believed to be Station A6a [some disute over whether station transferred to Somerset FB and became A6a, or whether closed by NFS by 1947]
